A GROUP of anti-vaccine protestors that tried to confront and serve ‘legal’ papers to ex-footballer Alan Shearer have been widely condemned online for their actions.
After the former Newcastle United striker was broadcast on the Premier League’s official TV channel speaking about the benefits of the vaccine last week, a group of protestors filmed themselves outside an address near Newcastle on Wednesday (December 22) – alleging to be Mr Shearer’s property.
In the video, which was shared to Twitter, three men and a woman, plus someone recording the scene, gathered outside a gated property and after pressing an intercom system, one of them posted ‘legal’ documents into an external letterbox.

During the clip, the man who posted the documents says: “Everyone is going to get this, every celebrity, sick of you.
“Just causing more trouble for us, lies, all lying.
“That’s the truth in that letterbox there, in Alan Shearer’s f****** house.”
After the clip was posted, many were quick to take to social media to say the same thing; that the property didn’t even belong to the Newcastle United legend.
One Twitter user said: “He hasn't lived there for about 15 years; in fact, he's recently sold the house he moved to.,” while another commented “some bloke is going to have post for Alan Shearer in his post box when he opens it, because I don't think that's Shearer’s house.”
The idea that it wasn’t the former footballer and pundits’ house was further confirmed after a local person, who has viewed the video, told the PA News agency: “That’s an old address they have for him.”
As well as garnering comments about the accuracy of where Mr Shearer lived, the original video received hundreds of comments from people condemning the protestors for their “abrupt” and “harassing” actions.
“Honestly, we have some very silly people out there who won't have this vaccine. I'm sure they will need the help of our doctors and nurses if they catch this virus. I Can't work some people out, one person said online.”
Another added: “We all want normality and the only way to achieve this is for everybody to get vaccinated. If you don’t want a vaccine, don’t get one, but let the rest of us do what we think is right and get our vaccines.”

It wasn’t just members of the public commenting on the news that anti-vaccine protestors had tried to confront Mr Shearer. The former strikers’ BBC Match of the Day colleague, Gary Linekar, took to Twitter last night to share an article of the incident with the caption: “Wrong house, wrong cause, all kinds of wrong.”
Despite hundreds of comments from people attacking the stance of the group that served ‘legal’ papers to Mr Shearer, some did defend the protestors for “expressing their views”.
On Twitter, one user wrote: “So those people are also wrong for protesting to express their opinion in your view,” and one said: “that's what happens when you do your own research.
Northumbria Police said it had no current involvement in the incident when the police force was contacted for comment.
