STOCKTON-based autism charity Daisy Chain hosted a Christmas fair to raise funds for its vital work.

The event was sponsored by Bellway Durham, which is building new homes at its Old School Gardens development just down the road from the charity’s base.

The housebuilder donated £500 towards the cost of holding the event, which took place at Daisy Chain’s premises at Calf Fallow Farm, Norton, on Friday, December 3.

A range of stalls and crafters were present at the event, which also featured Santa’s grotto, a soft play area, choirs from local schools, and a tombola and raffle.

Guests also had a rare opportunity to see the animals that live on the Daisy Chain Farm, which is normally closed to the public.

Founded in 2003, Daisy Chain provides a range of support services to autistic children, adults and their families in the Tees Valley area and beyond.

Tracey Wright, Fundraising Manager for Daisy Chain, said: "We're delighted to have the support of Bellway for our Christmas fair. Their generous donation has enabled us to hold a free public event to celebrate Christmas, as well as help fundraise for our beneficiaries.

“It’s only by hosting events like this that we can continue making a difference to the lives of autistic children and adults by providing vital services and support. We're so grateful for Bellway's donation, and it's brilliant to see a company so passionate about supporting local charities."

Hayley Teasdale, Sales Manager for Bellway Durham, said: “We are always keen to support local community events, especially ones like this which are in aid of such a good cause.

“We know what an extremely valuable service Daisy Chain provides for people with autism and when we contacted the charity to see if we could assist them in any way, we were more than happy to make this donation towards their Christmas fair.

“We hope everyone who attended had a wonderful day getting into the Christmas spirit while raising money for this amazing charity.”
