THE mystery knitters are at it again as decorative toppers appear on post boxes across Darlington.

There are now at least three in the town, with locations including Mowden shops, Conyers Avenue and Geneva Road.

It didn't take long for the news to hit the Darlington community Facebook Group, 'You Know You're From Darlo When' where nearly 100 people commented on the picture of the Father Christmas and Rudolph scene on the post box on Conyers Avenue.

Brian Fishpool said: "Brilliant. What clever, talented, people there are."

Shirley Nowell Evered said: "They're brilliant. Well done to the crafters who have done this."

Beverley Corner: "So lovely and generous of people. Pray nobody spoils them."

Lynn Hall: "Big thank you to the people who have been making these. They are so lovely and you can't help but love them. Well done."

It's not known who is responsible for these festive artistic additions but similar toppers are appearing across the UK to spread some Christmas cheer.

Back in June of this year, yarn bombers took to Darlington town centre with colourful creations for the launch of a campaign to become to UK's most inclusive place to visit for people with hidden disabilities.

The pilot scheme was launched in Darlington to make it accessible for people with non-obvious disabilities, which can range from things like autism and dementia to chronic pain and visual impairments.
