STUDENTS from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QE) in Darlington once again are supporting a number of local charities this Christmas.

This year students are supporting a charity called Post Pals, which supports children with life-limiting illnesses.

The students have taken on the role of Santa Claus and his reindeer, sending personalised letters to children to brighten up their day.

Each letter includes a fact about the child to make them truly personal.

The letters are signed on behalf of Santa or one of his reindeer, popped into a coloured enveloped and posted.

Student Nicole Seal said: "It's been fun doing things like this, it's a great way to meet new people but also make someone else's day better."

In the run up to Christmas the children receive a number of these letters and feel part of the festive build-up, even if they are in hospital.

By December 3, over 1000 letters had been written by the students.

Coordinator of QE's Interact Club Nancy Wall said: "Isn't this what Christmas is about?

"Not spending huge amounts of money on material things, but giving up time to make someone else happy.

"As always I am very proud of these young people and what they do."
