Shortly after seeing the woman, an unknown man collected her in a 4x4 style vehicle (registration thought to begin with Y) and drove away in the direction of Guisborough.
However, a Cleveland Police spokesman said this evening:"Thanks to those who shared our post as we sought to check on the welfare of a woman who was reported to be by the roadside in New Marske on Saturday evening.
"We have spoken to those involved.
"This is no longer of concern to police and the matter is closed. We're always grateful to reporting people who contact us if something doesn't seem quite right.
