The bridge, which is well-used by children, goes over the railway line between Newsam Road and Butterfield Grove.
Storm Arwen caused damage to the panels on one side of the bridge.
A council statement said: "We are liaising with Network Rail and will provide an update on repairs as soon as possible."
A signed pedestrian diversion is in place suggesting people instead cross the line via the footbridge further north, between Yarm Road and Burnmoor Drive.
Alternatively, people can use the bridge on Urlay Nook Road.
