A POPULAR pub in North Yorkshire has been “reduced to ashes” after a fire broke out last night.
The Star Inn at Harome was severely damaged in the fire, which started after 10pm last night.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the much-loved restaurant, near Helmsley, at 10.13pm.

At its peak, nine fire engines attended the blaze after the thatched roof caught on fire.
Owners of the pub released a video of the fire on social media on Wednesday night, tweeting: “It’s been a long night so far…..I’m afraid we won’t be open for a while as we are reduced to ashes with The Star on fire and still burning.”

Crews from Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering attended, along with the aerial ladder platform from Huntington.
The scene this morning
A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews worked with main jets and hose reel jets to contain the fire and the aerial ladder platform was deployed to removed thatch from the roof.

“The incident is still ongoing and crews are still working to extinguish the fire.”
The restaurant has been hailed as one of the best in the UK and was the second pub in the country to be awarded a Michelin star.
