A PUB in County Durham has been evacuated after a suspicious package was found. 

Police say they are dealing with an incident in Seaham, in the Church Street area.

A report was received of a potentially suspicious package at a pub at about 8.50pm.

It is believed to have been found in the Wetherspoons pub. 

The area has been evactuated.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "The area has been evacuated as a precaution, and a cordon is in place while emergency services carry out enquiries.

"Please avoid the area while we deal with the incident, and we will update with further information as soon as possible."
