A DARLINGTON shop has started an advent calendar appeal in the build-up to Christmas and will be donating them to a local foodbank.

Linthorpe Beds is donating the advent calendars to NQA Foodbank based at Pathfinder House on Northgate in Darlington.

Customers can drop the advent calendars off at the shop on Russell Street from now until November 20th.

Cassie Cooper, Social Media Manager at Linthorpe Beds said: “We just thought it would be a nice idea considering it’s been a really tough year for so many people and if it can put a smile on some faces then why not?

"We would love to help support children in our area and spread a little Christmas cheer to give them a treat this year.

“We don’t have long until November 20 so we really hope the people of the town support this as it’s for a good cause.

“We want to collect as many advent calendars as possible. If this can make a difference to someone’s Christmas then it’ll be worth it."

The appeal extends to the stores in Bishop Auckland and Stockton as well.

The Bishop Auckland store is collecting the calendars for Woodhouse Close Foodbank and the Stockton store is collecting for Hebron Evangelical Church Foodbank.
