A GRATEFUL mother has praised firefighters who came to the rescue after a toddler got his head stuck in a toilet training seat.

Three-year-old Jack Boughey became trapped while playing upstairs with his sister.

His mum, Natalie Heaton, 35, of Sunnybrow, near Crook, call the fire service and within minutes a fire engine with blue lights flashing arrived outside their home on Huntsgarth.

Natalie said: “I don’t know how it happened but he came down the stairs wearing the toilet seat.

“I did not know what to. We tried to move it ourselves. It was getting stuck around his ears. He was getting upset and started to panic.

“The only thing I thought I could do was call the emergency care number, but if I had to take him to hospital I would not have been able to get him into a car seat.”

Natalie, a mother-of-five, who lives with partner Stephen Boughey, 38, said she was advised to call the fire brigade when the incident happened on October 19.

She said: “The two who came into the house were fantastic. One of them managed to manipulate it and move it round. Within seconds it was off.

“Jack has been telling everyone that Fireman Sam has been to his house.”
