POLICE are appealing for witnesses or information after a vulnerable man was attacked in Stockton.

The incident happened at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, October 26, in a wooded area between Upsall Grove, Lealholme Grove and Rounton Grove in Fairfield.

A 60-year-old man suffered a head injury and was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment after he was assaulted with weapons by a group of males.

The group, believed to be aged between 14 and 16-years-old, had two dogs with them and they made off on mountain bikes and a black motorbike, which was similar to a scooter.

The victim was later released from hospital following treatment.

Several people are believed to have been in the wooded area, where a makeshift tent had been erected and officers would ask those people to get in touch as they may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or those responsible, are asked to contact Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 182016.
