A COUNTY Durham bus station was blocked off by police - prompting chaotic scenes and diversions.
A number of police cars and vans were spotted at the entrance of Consett Bus Station at around 1.30pm on Wednesday (November 3).
That lead to buses being forced to take an alternative route along John Street and into the bus station in the opposite direction.

But police have now explained why there was a notable police presence in the town as an individual was seen appearing to be handcuffed.
A Durham Police spokesperson said a man remained in custody after being apprehended under the suspicion of theft.

They said: "Police attended Consett bus station today and arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of theft. He remains in police custody."
