A MAN has denied charges arising from an alleged double stabbing incident last month.
John Bake is accused of inflicting two deep stab wounds on a man and a superficial right shoulder injury to a woman, as well as making threats to damage another woman’s house, plus possessing a knife in public.
All of those offences are alleged to have taken place in Briar Close, Spennymoor, on Friday October 1.
He also stands accused of threatening to damage windows to the same woman’s home, but between August 15 and September 30.
The 25-year-old defendant, of Briar Close, Spennymoor, appeared at a Durham Crown Court plea hearing via video link from the city’s nearby prison.
He denied charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing an offensive weapon, a knife, in public, plus threatening to destroy or damage, both on October 1 and between August 15 and September 30.
The court heard there is a custody time limit to detain the defendant ahead of trial, of April 5, 2022.
His case was, therefore, adjourned by Recorder David Gordon for a trial to take place at the court, starting on Tuesday March 15, next year, with a three-day estimate.
