A 79-year-old woman died in a crash in Whitby after the car she was a passenger in mounted the pavement and collided with a building.

North Yorkshire police are appealing for witnesses for the incident which happened on October 25 at around 11.35am on Bagdale, Whitby at the junction with Brunswick Street.

Police say the collision involved a red Honda Civic which mounted the pavement and collided with an office building.

Both occupants of the vehicle, an 80-year-old man and 79-year-old female passenger from Whitby, were taken to the hospital following the collision.

The force has said that sadly the female passenger of the vehicle died as a result of her injuries on October 29.

Officers are asking any pedestrians or drivers in the area at the time who saw the red Honda to contact police.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident is also asked to get in touch with police.
