AN Amazon driver has been reportedly fired from his job after a woman was spotted leaving the backdoor of a delivery van.

The clip of a woman leaving the Amazon Prime-branded vehicle has gone viral after it was posted on the social media site, TikTok.

In the video, the Amazon driver is seen opening the rear door to the van before a woman steps out and proceeds to walk in the opposite direction.

The video, which has had millions of views and thousands of shares, was reportedly taken in a Florida neighbourhood earlier this month.

In the UK, the same type of vans are used to deliver parcels from smaller distribution centres with the vehicles often seen dropping off directly to customer homes.

There have been no similar reports in the region, although one Amazon driver hit the headlines after County Durham residents raised concern last year.

The driver, who had been taking part in a trial service for the company, was questioned by police after residents saw him ask about delivery locations and missed deliveries.

However, both Durham Police and Amazon confirmed he had been acting legitimately and said he was carrying out enquiries for the company.

In response to the clip, the US division of the company told the US title, TMZ that the actions did not "reflect the high standards" of the company.

It said: "This does not reflect the high standards we have for our Delivery Service Partners and their drivers.

"Allowing unauthorised passengers to enter delivery vehicles is a violation of Amazon policy, and the driver is no longer delivering packages to Amazon customers.”
