THE North East and North Yorkshire seems to have just escaped further heavy rain set to hit close by say the Met Office.

The Met Office have issued a new yellow warning for rain affecting much of the North West, but it seems the North East and North Yorkshire has escaped the worst of it.

However, we may not escape the heavy rain that easily as just recently a spokesperson for the Met Office said that although we do not fall under the weather warning “this does not mean areas outside the warning area will not see severe weather.”

The said: “The Met Office National Severe Weather Warning Service (NSWWS) warns of the potential impacts caused by severe weather and the likelihood of those impacts occurring.

“More extreme impacts are expected within the warning zone, therefore although much of the North East and North Yorkshire outside the warning area this does not mean you will escape the rain completely.”

The new weather warning is in place for much of the North West from 3am on Sunday to 6am on Monday morning.

If we do see heavy rain, here’s what to expect:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
