A MAN is reported to have died after an accident involving a milk tanker this morning.

The incident reportedly happened on the A684 on the Harmby Road in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, near St Matthews Church. The road was closed for eight hours as a result.

Police say the incident involved a white milk tanker and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a local man who was in his 40s was pronounced dead at scene.

It is understood the road did not re-open again until 7.50am this morning.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating the death of a man on the A684 Harmby Road at Leyburn that was reported by a tanker driver at 12.23am today (Tuesday 26 October 2021).

2The stretch of road remained closed for around eight hours while the emergency services worked at the scene.
