A FOOTBALL fan has been arrested in connection with an alleged racist incident during a Newcastle match.

Officers investigating the incident at Newcastle United's Premier League home fixture with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, October 17, issued a photograph of a man they wanted to question and appealed for information last week.

Northumbria Police has this morning thanked the public for sharing the appeal and confirmed a suspect has now been identified and arrested.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment, causing alarm or distress.

He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
