A MAN in his 70s is still being searched for by police after it was reported he was messing yesterday morning.

David McCartney, 74-years-old, went missing on Monday when he was last seen at his home address in Keighley before going for a walk in the Dales.

Mr McCartney told his family he was heading on a walking expedition and would be around 4 to 5 hours and then travelled to the Craven area in a black Volvo 62 plate.

Today, police, mountain rescue, cave rescue and RAF and police helicopters are once again involved in the search.

Police say the search will focus on the Great Whernside, Kettlewell and surrounding fells and hilltops.

The coat that David is wearing in the picture is the same coat that he went walking with on Monday, say police.

David’s family have said that he speaks “with a stutter” and this may be distinctive to anyone who has seen or spoken to him.

A spokesperson for the police said: “David is described as wearing a blue kagool, red trousers, a orange and brown striped scarf and he was carrying a red and black rucksack.”

“Anyone who has seen David, or his vehicle, or has information that could assist us, is asked to call 101. If you have an immediate sighting please dial 999”

The reference number is NYP-18102021-0505.
