POLICE have issued an appeal after an elderly man was robbed in Middlesbrough.
Police are appealing for information after the early morning robbery in which the elderly man sustained a broken hip.
The victim who is in his early 70s left the Best One convenience store on Borough Road in Middlesbrough at around 6.20am this morning (Tuesday) and an unknown man followed him for a short distance before pushing him over and stealing keys, a phone and a wallet from his pocket.
The suspect then fled the area. Officers attended and helped the man, who later went to hospital.

A member of the public contacted police to report the robbery and police know other people were in the area at the time.
If you haven't already spoken to an officer, police are urge you to contact them as you may have vital information to help their on-going enquiries.
The suspect is described as in his 20s or 30s, of large build, unshaven and wearing a dark coloured jacket.
