The "Make It" Lego challenge will give small teams three minutes to design objects out of Lego, such as robots, animals and inventions.

The "Let's Move It" will give visitors the chance to take part in the worldwide LEGO Technic and Volvo Challenge.

Visitors are also able to take part in a bridge-building activity, using recycled material before putting their creations to the test with an earthquake machine.

For half term, the museum has also created a series of free object hunts for eagle-eyed visitors to follow which can be collected at the activity stations.

Alongside these activities, visitors can also enjoy the museum's miniature railway, the Mallard Experience ride and indoor and outdoor playgrounds.

Sophie Holland, from the museums learning team, said: "I would like to welcome everyone to the museum this half term to take part in our Lego and building-themed activities. Visitors will have the chance to have fun and get creative, thinking like an engineer as we explore how the railways are designed to get things moving."

Activities are set to run between October 23 and 31.
