A NORTH Yorkshire man is set to side-step the “Scarborough 10k” in the name of charity close to his heart.

Jon Kemp, and avid runner from Scarborough, decided to give himself more of a challenge in the “Scarborough 10k” this year and instead of running it, he will be side-stepping the whole distance.

Mr Kemp has already ran the race backwards and every other way, but this will be the first time he has side-stepped it.

He is set to raise money for Hull4Heroes a charity that is “very close” to his heart as both his father and uncle have served in the armed forces.

Mr Kemp said: “I have run it backwards, and I just thought why not, I like to do something for charity every year, but I just like to try and do things that other people won’t think of.

“I’m a natural runner so when I say ‘oh I’m just running the 10k’ I feel like I’m cheating people out of their money because they know I can do it.

“So I like to put a bit of spin on something, and I thought ‘I wonder if that would be possible so I emailed those in charge and they said yes."
