Police are investigating a domestic incident that happened in a County Durham town yesterday evening.

Officers were called to Coleridge Road, in Chilton at 7.30pm where they found three females with serious injuries.

They have all been taken to hospital where they are receiving treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A man who allegedly fled the scene was located a short time later in a nearby property and arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been taken to hospital with a foot injury and is currently in police detention. Officers would like to thank the community for their cooperation at the scene, and while further enquiries are carried out.
