The Tour of Britain’s stage six started in Cumbria today and cycling fans will be able to see the riders as they pass through several area on their way to the finish line located outside Sir Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North sculpture.
Starting in Carlisle, stage six will go on to pass through the Lakes via Ullswater, Pooley Bridge, Unthank, Langwathby, Melmerby, Alston and Nenthead then will reach the north east with the finish line being located outside Sir Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North sculpture.

Stage six is 198km long and spectators are welcome to watch the race at any point but access to the team paddock at stage starts and finishes will not be allowed for spectators because of Covid-19 protocols.

- Penrith – 12:30pm
- Hartside (category 1) – 1:03pm
- Killhope Cross (category 1) – 1:30pm
- Burtree Fell (category 1) – 1:44pm
- Prudhoe – 2:55pm
- Angel of the North (A167 Durham Road), Gateshead – 3:42pm

This year is Gateshead’s fourth time of hosting the Tour of Britain in some way, having hosted the stage six finish in 2008, the stage two finish in 2009 and the stage four start in 2019.
The Angel of the North is a popular landmark with a height of 20m and a wingspan of 54m.
