Police are appealing for information after two men reported being robbed near a town's art gallery.
The incident happened near the MIMA gallery and the Bottle of Notes in Middlesbrough town centre.
It happened around 10.30pm on Monday, August 30 (which was a Bank Holiday) when the men were approached by six other males, believed to be aged in their late teens.
They were all wearing dark tracksuits and five of them had balaclavas on. The other, a white male, had a face mask and his hood up. All of them had Teesside accents.
The group assaulted the victims causing black eyes, bruised ribs and scratches although they did not require hospital treatment. It’s not believed any weapons were involved in the attack.
The suspects stole a gold coloured bracelet and a black baseball cap.
The victims were left extremely shaken and have only recently made the report to the police.
Any witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting ref 150589.
