CLEVELAND Police are appealing for witnesses after two reports of robbery in the Middlesbrough area.

The first incident happened at around 3.30am on Saturday (September 4) on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.

Two women were allegedly approached by a man described as being a white male, wearing a grey coloured tracksuit.

The male allegedly threatened the women with a knife in order for them to hand over money.

The male then made off towards Gresham Road in Middlesbrough.

The second incident happened at around 1.45am on Sunday (September 5) on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough. A lone male was reportedly approached by a man, matching the same description, who allegedly threatened him with a knife in order for him to hand over his mobile phone. The suspect made off towards Gresham Road.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released under investigation. Enquiries are ongoing.
