NORTH Yorkshire has been named one of the best places to fined buried treasure according to data revealed by a jewellery company.
The data shows that North Yorkshire is the sixth best place to find buried treasure in the UK with 67.8 total finds per 100,000 people.

Overall in North Yorkshire, the number of finds of treasure has reached 421 since 2012.
Gathered using government data on treasure and portable antiques statistics, the data shows the number of treasure and portable antiques discovered in and around the UK since 2012 to 2019.
The ranking shows that the Isle of Wight is the best place to find buried treasure with 129.3 total finds per 100,000.
Norfolk comes in close second with 100.3 total finds per 100,000 and a leads the way for overall number of treasure finds with 917 finds since 2012.

- Isle of Wight with 284 total finds and 129.3 finds per 100,000
- Norfolk with 917 total finds and 100.3 finds per 100,000
- Dorset with 331 total finds and 87.2 finds per 100,000
- Suffolk with 581 total finds and 76.3 finds per 100,000
- Lincolnshire with 520 total finds and 67.9 finds per 100,000
- North Yorkshire with 421 total finds and 67.8 finds per 100,000
- Wiltshire with 336 total finds and 66.7 finds per 100,000
- East Riding of Yorkshire with 218 total finds and 63.5 finds per 100,000
- Somerset with 281 total finds and 49.8 finds per 100,000
- Oxfordshire with 283 total finds and 40.6 finds per 100,000
