A NORTH Yorkshire station, which has been given a new-look, has been officially re-opened after a £170,000 investment.

The work to upgrade Malton Station has been complete and the station has received a brand-new modern ticket office, improved waiting room with charging points, accessible unisex toilet, and a free drinking water fountain.

The upgrades have been delivered by TransPennine Express.

Funding for the revamp was made possible through TransPennine Express's Custoomer and Communities Improvement Fund, which supports projects that will benefit communities across the North of England.

The new improvements were officially opened by Councillor Jane Frank, Chair of Ryedale District Council.

She said: "Ryedale District Council is really pleased to have been able to contribute towards this project to provide improved customer facilities at Malton Station. It will make a big difference to rail users. We are continuing to work with partners to develop improvements to infrastructure."
