DURHAM Pointers are back in the city centre offering assistance to visitors after an 18-month absence.
The award-winning volunteers are back in the pink, in their Market Place pitch, pointing tourists and others unfamiliar with the city in the right direction, but, following the long lay-off, they are seeking to bolster numbers by recruiting more, ‘genuinely interested people’, to join their ranks.
Susan Tyson, a pointer since its inception in 2012, said: “A great Durham Pointer doesn’t need to have an in-depth knowledge of the city.
“What they really need is an enthusiasm to help visitors, and we can help them with all the rest.
“If you’re a curious and helpful person with a few hours to spare, we’d love to hear from you.”
Durham Pointers returned to the city centre in their familiar bright pink tabards, on Monday July 19.
