JURORS have heard how blood from the man two men are accused of murdering was discovered on their clothing.

Adam Chawla was left unconscious for several hours after being severely beaten by two men, Teesside Crown heard.

The 27-year-old died about 48 hours after he was allegedly punched, kicked and stamped on at a home in Eleanor Place, Stockton.

John Newell, a forensic scientist, told the court how traces of Mr Chawla's blood was recovered trainers and tracksuits belonging to Craig Hardy and Ryan Burey.

Giving evidence during the ongoing murder trial, Mr Newell told jurors that both men must have been in close proximity to the victim during the fatal attack due to the blood spatter found on their clothing.

He said the spatter in the room showed that significant impact had taken place on the Mr Chawla and traces of blood were found on a television unit.

Dafydd Enoch, QC, prosecuting, asked the scientist to describe his findings to the jury after hair and skin marks were found in the blood.

Mr Newell said: "There was a pattern of skin and hair and it would indicate that a bleeding individual's face or head came into contact with the leg of that TV unit."

The jury heard how the blood stain on the floor of the property had been extensive before attempts were made to clean it up but added that there was evidence of a 'pool of blood' was on the floor.

He added that traces of Mr Chawla's blood was recovered from a pair of Nike trainers and pair of Under Armour tracksuit bottoms belonging to Burey, which had been found in a washing machine, with blood stains found on the legs and on the buttock area.

Hardy, 41, of Cambridge Road, Thornaby and 29-year-old Burey, of Wembley Way, Stockton, deny murder.

Burey is also alleged to have taken pictures of the dad-of-two after the attack.

A third man Naeem Iqbal, 50, also faces one charge of assisting an offender and a charge of intending to pervert the course of justice, both in relation to the alleged murder.

The court heard the assault happened in the home of Iqbal, between 8.30am and 9.30am of February 19.

When the emergency services did arrive, Iqbal and Burey told them they had found Mr Chawla in the street shortly before calling an ambulance, the court had heard.

The trial continues.
