EARLIER this month the Met Office hinted that the UK could see a heatwave towards the end of the month as they predicted warmer than average temperatures – but is that still true?

According to the Met Office’s long-range forecast running from Saturday August 22 to Tuesday August 31, “confidence is low for this period.”

The weather forecaster has predicted unsettled weather particularly for the south, with extensive rain and showers on Sunday August 23.

However, conditions should become more settled into next week, with plenty of dry weather with occasional sunny spells as well.

This could remain throughout the week, however, rain and showers could develop again which would be most likely in the South.

Temperatures are still expected to “remain close to, or rather above average, with warm spells likely at times” according to the Met Office.

Looking further ahead between Wednesday September 1 and Wednesday September 15, confidence is reportedly “exceptionally low across this period.”
