The report also says, however, that there will be “some spells of heavy rain and thunderstorms possible at times.”

Changeable and often unsettled has been predicted for the North during this period, however.

Forecasts provided by Brian Glaze from The Weather Outlook, however, have also predicted “warm periods”.

Brian Glaze said: “Computer models are suggesting that temperatures are more likely to be above the average than below it over the period as a whole.

“There could be some very warm periods mixed in, particularly in the south. Although showers or longer spells of rain remain a possibility, on balance the period is expected to be drier than average across the UK as a whole.”
