SHOCKING footage of the moments leading up to a horror bike crash which left a teenager with life-changing injuries has been released by police.
The CCTV footage shows Luke O'Neill speeding around Middlesbrough on the wrong side of the road and on footpaths, pulling wheelies and skipping red lights before colliding with a car.
The 27-year-old and a teenage pillion passenger were on the motorbike on May 7, last year and seen riding around the Middlesbrough area at an average of 40mph in 20 and 30 zones.
They were seen on footpaths and on the wrong side of the road, pulling wheelies and going through red lights, putting other road users in potential danger.
At one point, the banned and uninsured rider was doing 60 mph in a 30 zone.
He eventually collided with a car on Longlands Road whereupon he and his passenger were thrown from the bike, both sustaining very serious injuries.
The teenage pillion rider needed a lengthy stay in hospital and has life-changing injuries.
Cleveland Police shared the footage as roads policing officers welcomed the 27-month sentence issued to a O'Neill for causing injury by dangerous driving.

Speaking after the sentencing at Teesside Crown Court last week, Inspector Steven Clyburn from Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit (CDSOU), said: “This tragic case demonstrates clearly the consequences of both speeding and other dangerous driving offences.
“A young man has suffered life changing injuries and I welcome the sentence given to O’Neill who will now have time to consider his actions while he is in prison.”
