A FORMER hotel Starbucks has been completely transformed into a new coffee shop - among the first of its kind to open in the region.
The coffee company, Paddy & Scott's have opened their new cafe in the former Starbucks at the Marriott Hotel Royal County in Durham.
With a complete overhaul of interior fixtures, fittings and decor, the cafe is completely unrecognisable from its former days.
Operated by the Suffolk-based chain, the new cafe is among the first of the company's outlets in the North East, and wider North.
Complete with a range of ethically-sourced coffee, served by skilled baristas, the cafe is serving a selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks and sweet treats every day.
James Marsh, general manager at the Marriott Hotel Royal County, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our brand new Paddy and Scott’s coffee shop and we can’t wait for the people of Durham and beyond to try our great-tasting, sustainable coffee.”
Jon Reed, Managing Director at Paddy & Scott’s, said the opening marked the start of its expansion of outlets in the North of England.
He added: “We began working with Marriott Hotel group in 2019 and are slowly bringing our iconic ‘wings’ branding to more of their cafes, whilst supplying them with our great coffee.
"This new site is brilliantly located in the heart of the city, which attracts a big student audience that we are very used to serving.”
To coincide with the launch, the cafe is offering 50 per cent off all hot drinks for a limited time - and students will get 20 per cent off all year round.
