A town centre Tapas bar has announced its temporary closure after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The Old Yard Tapas Bar, in Darlington, confirmed the news on social media on Friday. 

The Bondgate restaurant is a firm favourite in the town, and celebrated success by winning Best Restaurant in North, in the England Business Awards 2019.

Announcing the immediate closure, a statement read: "We have made the decision to temporarily close from today. 

"One member of staff has unfortunately received a positive test result this morning. We are closing with the best interest of our staff, their families, and our customers.  

"An update for our reopening will follow soon. We hope you all enjoy the match this evening. 

"Have a good weekend everybody, stay safe."
