A WOMAN accused of murdering Toni Butler is expected to go on trial next year.
Keegan Barnes is accused of killing the 25-year-old in Thornaby last week.
She appeared in Teesside Crown Court this morning for a brief hearing to set out a timescale for her trial.
The 28-year-old was arrested at her home on Vulcan Way, Thornaby, after paramedics were called to the address to treat Miss Butler.
The defendant spoke only to confirm her date of birth and address.
Barnes was remanded in custody by the Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Paul Watson QC.
Cleveland Police were called to the address at 12.41pm on Thursday, June 10, by paramedics after a report that a woman had died.
This case will come back before the same court on July 12 for a further directions hearing.
The trial date was set for March next year.
A 15-year-old girl arrested at the same time was released without any further action.
