FILMING of the latest Indiana Jones film is taking place in the region.
Two big tourist attractions are closed to the public for periods of this month, which is understood to be because filming of the famed archaeologist's fifth adventure is now underway.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which reopened on May 15 following the easing of lockdown restrictions, shut on Friday for four days.
And Bamburgh Castle, in Northumberland, is closed until Monday, June 14 to allowing filming on the site.
Whilst they remain tight-lipped about the movie, managers at both attractions will have been keen to allow the sites to be used as film locations, with income limited since last spring due to the coronavirus lockdowns.
A Yorkshire Moors Railway spokesperson said: “North Yorkshire Moors Railway is closed due to a prior commitment before reopening dates were agreed around the Government’s roadmap.”
No services are running on the line until Tuesday, June 8.
Crew members have been at Bamburgh Castle for the past few days transforming it into a film set - with barbed wire props on the surrounding walls and using a crane to lift equipment into position.
It is understood that the director James Mangold has been in Northumberland doing a recce of the area, in preparation of scenes being shot at the castle.
Legendary lead actor Harrison Ford is expected to be on location next week when filming takes place.
Disney has said Indiana Jones 5 should hit cinemas in July 2022, though a UK release date has not been confirmed.
