THE following cases were heard at Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.
DAVID BOGGON, of no fixed address, was fined £40 after he stole cans of lager from Spar Store. The incident happened on April 7, of this year. Boggon, 33, indicated a plea of guilt and was made to pay £12 compensation and a £34 victim surcharge. He was also made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
HARRY ATKINSON, 18, was handed a community order by the court after dangerous driving and failing to stop his vehicle when being asked to do so by a police officer. The Croftside, Birtley resident, was found guilty of the offence which took place March 27, 2021 at Murton. He was banned from driving for 15 months.
JOHN JOE WOOD, from Stanley, assaulted a woman by beating her on May 1, 2021. The 28-year-old pleaded guilty and was handed a community order requiring him to undergo alcohol treatment. Wood, of South View, was also banned from contacting the victim and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
JOHN WILLIAM RENNISON, 36, of Darlington Road, Ferryhill, stole an expired passport, bag of football collectors coins, PlayStation and a box of gold cards. The incident happened between April 29 and April 30. He indicated a plea of guilt and was handed a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation. He was also ordered to pay £95 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. He also appeared in court charged with receiving stolen CCTV cameras between the same dates and was made to pay £148.59 compensation.
WAYNE THOMAS PARKER, of Newton Street, Ferryhill, was given a 26-week prison sentence due to his disregard for court orders. On May 15, 2021, in Durham he was found in a public place whilst drunk in breach of his community behaviour order. The 33-year-old indicated a plea of guilt and was made to pay £128 to fund victim services.
JONATHAN THOMAS LOWSON, 31, was caught driving whilst under the influence of cocaine on December 9, 2020. The Front Street, Hevingham Row resident, was banned from driving for 36 months and fined £461.He pleaded guilty and was also given a £46 victim surcharge fee and £85 court costs.
CHARLIE JAMES NICHOLSON, 25, of Rennie Road, Sunderland, assaulted a police officer at Pelton on April 9, 2021. He was fined £133 and made to pay £50 compensation. Nicholson was also made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
OWEN ANTHONY WILLIAMS, 50, was caught behind the wheel on April 9, 2021, whilst over the legal drink drive limit. The Sunderland Place, Dragonsville resident, pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He was also made to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
KIERA BRENNAN, of no fixed address, stole confectionery from Newton Aycliffe Post Office on April 10, 2021. The 20-year-old pleaded guilty and was discharged conditionally for six months. She was also made to pay £2 compensation.
TERRY BRUN, of Stone Row, Grange Villa, stole make-up and a shaver from Boots at the Arnison Centre, on March 30, 2021. The 37-year-old indicated a plea of guilt and was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.
CARRIE ELDRETT, 37, pleaded guilty and being drunk and disorderly at Durham, on April 13, 2021. The Wood View, Esh Winning resident was fined £40 and made to pay a £34 victim surcharge. He was also given a £85 Crown Prosecution Service fee.
DEAN PAUL THUBRON, 25, of Brandling Court, Shotton, damaged a marked police van with intent to destroy or damage. The incident happened on April 11, 2021. He pleaded guilty and was handed a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation. Thubron was also made to pay £120 compensation. On the same date he also used a public communications network for the purpose of annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
SEAN THORTON HOWARD, of Kay Street, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in his hometown of Stanley on April 1, 2021. He was fined £80, made to pay a £34 victim surcharge and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
JOANNE MILLS, 44, of Park Avenue, South Shields, was handed a community order and banned from driving for 24 months following an incident around April 12, 2021. She was caught behind the wheel whilst over the legal drink drive limit. She pleaded guilty and was made to pay a £85 victim druchsrge and £85 to the Crown Proseuction Service.
