THE following cases were heard at Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.
ANTHONY JOHN GILLAN, 34, was ordered to pay £150 compensation after he damaged a police cell on January 16, 2021. On the same day the Teesdale Walk, Shildon resident, assaulted a detention officer. Gillan indicated a plea of guilt was fined £400 and ordered to pay £100 compensation. He was also made to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
REBECCA ALLISON, of Mossway, Pelton, assaulted a police officer on January 24, of this year. The 24-year-old indicated a plea of guilt and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 court fee.
NATASHA APPLEBY, 25, of Luke Avenue, Cassop was fined £40 after calling a woman a Fat S**g on messenger. The incident took place on August 24, 2020. Appleby indicated a plea of guilt and was ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. On the same day she also damaged conservatory blinds belonging to the victim and was ordered to pay £80 compensation.
GAVIN CASSIDY, from Horden, was given a restraining order by the court after he beat a woman on October 14, 2020. The 43-year-old, Warren Street resident, changed his plea to guilty.
PAUL ANDREW BARR, 40, of Edward Street, Bishop Auckland, assaulted a woman by beating her on March 27, 2021. He pleaded guilty and was given a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation and a restraining order. Barr was made to pay £200 compensation.
Between April 1 and April 17, 2021, ANDREW CALLAN, 42, harassed a person by being threatening and abusive. The Brinkburn Road, Darlington resident, pleaded guilty and was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was also given two restraining orders banning contact with two people. Callan was also made to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
SHANE ROBERT BURNS, from Seaham, was caught behind the wheel whilst under the influence of cocaine. The 22-year-old was disqualified from driving for 15 months and given a 12-week concurrent prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Burns, of Saturn Street, was also made to pay £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £128 to fund victim services.
ROBERT EDWARD GILBEY, 46, of High Street, Byers Green, was fined £380 after he damaged a cattle fence on October 18, 2019. Gilbey was also made to pay £38 to fund victim services and £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
ALAN WILLIAM GIBSON, from Shildon, stole tools, candles and washing pods on April 13, 2021, on Wilkinsons. The Ford Terrace resident pleaded guilty and was sent to prison for six months. Gibson, 41, was also ordered to pay £128.
LUKE MICHAEL BONIFACE, 33, of Evenwood Gate, Bishop Auckland, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after he damaged fencing on March 24, 2021. On the same day he was also caught in possession of cannabis. The drugs were confiscated.
CAMERON HAWKINS, of Huntsgarth, Sunnybrow, was given six penalty driving points after he was caught driving without due care and attention on March 23, 2021. The 18-year-old pleaded guilty and was fined £100 and made to pay a £34 victim surcharge. Hawkins was also made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
MICHAEL LEE URWIN, 26, of Woodlands Court, Crook, damaged a window screen and wing mirror on September 16, 2020. He pleaded guilty and was handed a community order and made to pay £200 compensation.
TONI FELLOWS, 30, was given a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation following an incident on March 3, 2021. The Second Street, Blackwall Colliery resident, assaulted a police officer. He indicated a plea of guilt and was made to pay £50 compensation.
MYLES PATRICK LAVERY, 21, of High Ridge, Consett, was fined £80 by the court. Lavery assaulted a police officer on March 18, 2021. He pleaded guilty and was made to pay £50 compensation, a £34 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
CHRISTOPHER CHIVERS, 30, of Lampton Avenue, Consett, was fined £40 after being caught in possession of cannabis on May 10, 2020.
