IT's the end of an era after dramatic pictures show demolition of a former Darlington nightclub well underway.
For the past few weeks, the former Audio nightclub on Commercial Street in the town centre has been gradually razed to the ground.
The former club, which first opened its doors to Darlington in the 1970s, had remained vacant for the past decade after its stint as Audio.
The iconic venue had been previously known under names including Zhivagos, Oscar's, Emmy's, the Plastered Parrot, The Lounge and Cactus Jack's.
Towards the end of last year, the iconic building suffered a fire just a month after it had been purchased by Darlington Borough Council.

At the time, the council said it would need to be demolished to make it safe, but it is understood the purchase had already included plans for its removal.
Since then work to remove the site has been underway as the area has remained cordoned off.
But pictures taken on Friday captured a sombre scene as demolition of the once-popular venue appeared to be nearing completion.
