Virgin Media has gone down for customers in the United Kingdom, according to reports.

The British telecommunications company which provides telephone, television and internet services in the UK is experiencing issues with its service.

According to Down Detector, reports of issues with services started at around 10am on Wednesday morning with London, Manchester and Cardiff seemingly the wort affected areas.

The majority of users experiencing difficulties say the problem is with Virgin’s cable internet, accounting for 80% of reported problems.

With people still working from home amid changes to working conditions amid the coronavirus the issues are causing havoc across the UK.

The nationwide outage coincides with complains that sites such as Twitter and Zoom have crashed.

It remains unclear whether these websites are experiencing their own difficulties, however it seems problems are linked to the current issues with Virgin.

Users have flocked to Twitter to express their concern.

One user wrote: “Been having issues with @virginmedia since last night. 0.03 or less upload speed. I can’t load websites properly.”

Another asked: “Anyone else’s @virginmedia broadband gone down?” Another user replied: “Yep.”

Another said: “@virginmedia super slow wifi, no help on app, downloaded virgin connect app - that didn’t work. Help sections have no contact just questions that don’t help - why is it so hard to get in touch with someone”

“I am on your best and probably most expensive package. I just want wi fi coverage in not just the room the router is in and yes I have done all the tests,” said another.

One user said the outage was causing a “nervous breakdown”.

They said: “@virginmedia I need your help - you’re support team are causing my Mrs to have a nervous breakdown - kids can’t do home homework, no one in the house has a stable connection.”

To which Virgin replied: “Hi Allan, very sorry to hear you're having some service issues. Are there any known faults listed on our service status page http://virg.in/service that could explain this?”

Virgin Media have been contacted for comment.
