A HUGE Spring Fair is coming to the North-East this month.
While many are keen for pubs to reopen and to catch up with friends, there is also plenty on offer for families as lockdown eases - including a roller skating rink.
After a successful year under the circumstances, bringing North-East residents a Spring Fair, summer festival and Winter Wonderland in 2020, Rainton Arena, is bringing back its festivities.
The site, near Houghton-le-Spring, will host a huge Spring Fair, which is set to going on Monday, April 12.
Among the many attractions on offer at Rainton Arena will be a roller disco and a whole host of fairground rides for both youngsters and adults.
There will also be visits from superhero characters such as Captain America and Spiderman, along with a host of favourite Disney princesses.
A beer garden with an app table service is being created to keep the grown-ups happy, with a whole of family-friendly food options available including a variety of street food stalls, crepes and waffles.
The announcement comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday announced phase two of his road map out of lockdown will go ahead.
Mr Johnson previously said it would only do so depending on the vaccine rollout, effectiveness and the reduction of hospitalisations in those vaccinated as well as concern over new variants.
Next Monday, most outdoor attractions and settings, including zoos and theme parks, will also reopen alongside pubs and non-essential retail. Social distancing must still be maintained.
Entry to the event is free, with tickets for the roller disco starting from £2.50 including skate hire and various charges for the rides.
The Spring Fair will run from 4pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday and then from 11am to 9pm Fridays through to Sunday, up until May 9.
Free parking is also available and, for more information, visit www.raintonarena.co.uk.
