A LARGE fire has broken out at a Teesside industrial estate - the second in the region within 24 hours.

The fire broke out on the South Bank/Cargo Fleet industrial estate. Cleveland Fire Brigade and Cleveland Police are in attendance.

Thick black smoke can be seen across the area, but no one is believed to be hurt. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Police are currently assisting Cleveland Fire Brigade with a fire at a commercial property on Lawson Industrial Estate in Middlesbrough.

"There are no reports of injuries. Please avoid the area until further notice.

"Officers will remain at the scene monitoring the incident and would advise for residents living in the area to keep windows and doors closed as a safety precaution."

Redcar MP Jacob Young said: "Large fire on the South Bank/Cargo Fleet industrial estate. Cleveland Fire in attendance.

"If close to the area, please go inside and close windows and doors. Hope everyone is ok."

It comes as residents were urged to stay inside yesterday after firefighters were called to a large fire at an industrial estate in Stockton.

Thick black smoke could be seen pouring from Bowesfield Industrial Estate yesterday evening.

It is understood the fire started at around 5:45pm on Friday.

The cause is not yet known.

Around 15 fire crews tackled the blaze and surrounding residents were asked to remain inside and close all doors and windows.
