AS lockdown eases further on March 29 and organised outdoor sports getting the green light, what running events are near you?
According to Government guidance, outdoor sports facilities, such as tennis and basketball courts, will be allowed to reopen, and people can take part in formally-organised outdoor sports.
This means that much-loved Parkrun events could actually restart as early as next weekend, but organisers want to take additional time to ensure events are Covid-secure.
Parkrun, which launched in 2004, puts on free 5km running events every weekend across the UK, which are attended by thousands.
There are two different races that take place every weekend, a 5k and a junior event.
They held across County Durham, Teesside and Tyne and Wear, but came to a halt after the announcement of the first coronavirus lockdown in March 2020.
But on the publication of the government's roadmap, Parkrun said it would take a phased approach to bringing back races due to the hundreds of people who turn out for the Saturday morning workout.
Junior Parkrun events across England will from Sunday, April 11, while all 5k runs will be back from June 5.
Helen Hood, head of event delivery at Parkrun UK, said: "We have now heard back from 251 out of 289 junior parkrun event teams in England.
"And encouragingly, we’re seeing an incredibly positive response from landowners, many of whom have already given the relevant permissions required for us to resume from April 11."
With many planning ahead and eager to get back on the track The Northern Echo has pulled together a full list of Parkrun events in the North-East so you can see where you closest race is.
