THE search is on to find the winners of five golden tickets as Beamish Museum has launched its own version just in time for reopening.

The County Durham museum has hidden five golden tickets in five sweet shop tins - with the winners being promised a "can't-be-bought" experience.

While Willy Wonka hid five golden tickets in five Wonka bars, the museum has said the tickets have been hidden in its Jubilee Confectioners sweet shop tins - available online.

A spokesperson said: "We’ve hidden five Golden Tickets in five of our Jubilee Confectioners sweet shop tins and the lucky finders of these tickets will win an exclusive, can’t-be-bought Beamish VIP experience for themselves and three others."

What each winner will get

- Entry to the museum before normal opening time

- An exclusive sweet shop demonstration where you invent your own sweet

- A bag of your confectionery creation

- A private tour around the museum in our Armstrong Whitworth car

- Delicious afternoon tea in one of our historic exhibits

- A behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s stores

- A bag of Beamish goodies

It comes as museum bosses have confirmed it will reopen as an outdoor attraction on April 12 as restrictions are further lifted.

By this time, the rule-of-six will have come into force meaning up two households, or six people from different households, can meet in any outdoor space.
