FORMER Labour MP and ex-shadow minister Jenny Chapman has taken her seat in the House of Lords.
Baroness Chapman of Darlington, as she is now known, was MP for the North-East constituency from 2010 to 2019.
But she lost her Commons seat at the last general election to Peter Gibson when Boris Johnson’s Tories made a number of gains in the North of England.
She was the chairwoman of Sir Keir Starmer’s successful leadership campaign and one of several nominations made by Labour for the Lords.
Former Master of the Rolls and ex-head of Civil Justice Lord Etherton has also taken his seat on the red benches in the Lords.
Lord Etherton will sit as an independent crossbench peer.
