A NORTH-East hotel is "dissapointed" but understanding towards the Governments roadmap that was announced on Monday.
Rockliffe Hall Hotel like many hotels and B&Bs will be able to reopen their doors no earlier than May 17 according to the Government roadmap.
The popular hotel has supported many local community causes through various initiatives such as complimentary takeaway afternoon tea for key workers and litter picking along the River Tees.
In October last year they donated packed lunches to a Kings Church Darlington foodbank containing freshly-made sandwiches, fruit, crisps, drinks and homemade cake.
Jason Adams, managing director at Rockliffe Hall said: "While feeling slightly disappointed at how long hotels and indoor dining will have had to wait to reopen, we understand that safety is paramount.
"A top priority here at Rockliffe Hall is keeping our guests and hardworking team safe — last year we were one of the first hotels in the world to receive the GBAC STAR accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
"In May we are looking forward to seeing families reunite and of huge importance to me personally is bringing my team back together. They are itching to get back to doing what they do best, providing first-class hospitality.
"When we reopen, we will be using the full 365 acre estate for picnics, bike hire, riverside walks and more.
"Our Spa Garden will be ideal for guests looking for an al-fresco wellness experience and we'll be able to show off our full potential.
"We understand that many people will be excited about the prospect of returning towards a ‘normal’ life – catching up on missed celebrations etc – but for those who may feel a little more cautious there will be an extensive in-room dining menu, contact-free experiences like the Spa in a Box where a self-guided treatment can be enjoyed in room, virtual wine tastings, and we will be operating off a reduced capacity in all areas to allow for social distancing.
