THE granddaughter of cricketing legend Ian Botham has said her family's competitive streak helped her win the crown as the new Miss Yorkshire.
Imani-Jayne Botham, from Richmond, picked up the title during a virtual event, which has been cancelled three times because of the pandemic.
The 20-year-old business student, who was interviewed on Zoom before winning her crown, said her mother was her role model and was from a naturally competitive family – Her brother James plays rugby for Wales and her grandfather is Lord Ian Botham, with whom she is very close, and supports in charitable events for the “Beefy Foundation”.
Contestants were asked to submit videos of themselves for three rounds, including an introduction, catwalk and either a talent performance, or to announce a fund raising event for the Miss England “Beauty with a Purpose” charitable cause. Marks were awarded, before the interviews were conducted on Zoom.
Imani-Jayne was presented with the winning tiara, sash, bubbly and flowers provided by Oops a Daisy, of Richmond and will take her place in the Miss England Finals later this year.
Runner up was Celine Bickerdike of Wakefield.
