THIS is the full list of people who can have a Company Shop membership as the firm opens its Darlington store.

The discount supermarket, which will run on a 'membership-only basis', officially opened its doors on Friday.

But because it only sells branded goods and goods from major retailers including Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, it is only open to certain workers.

This includes those in the emergency services, a number of key workers, and those on means-tested benefits.

This is the full list of who exactly can apply for a membership:

- FMCG Logistics, those employed with a company that provides logistical solutions to suppliers within the FMCG industry, including those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- FMCG Manufacturing, those employed with a company that manufactures or supplies food and household products to the FMCG industry, including those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- NHS and Private Hospital Workers, those employed by the NHS including dentists, pharmacies and DR surgeries, students and those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- Police, those employed by the police including special officers, students, volunteers and those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- Fire, those employed by the fire service including volunteers, students and those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- Prison services, those employed by Her Majesty's Prison Service and other prison employers including officers, operational support including education, hospitality and medical, residential and justice workers and those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- The British Army, inclusive of all employees of the British Armed Forces, including all those in receipt of a qualifying pension

Temporary memberships

- Support services, inclusive of employees of the following services; ambulances, Social Careers, Blood Bikes, Highways Agency, Border, MoD employees, Immigration and Visa controls, Coastguards, Search and Rescue, St Andrew's First Aid and St Johns Ambulance, any holder of a Blue Light Card

- Community Services, those employed by councils including teachers, academy schools and nursery schools, all care homes private / non-private, hospices and religious staff including volunteers and those in receipt of a qualifying pension

- Covid 19 responders, all returning workers to the NHS, Police and Fire services that have returned to work in response to Covid-19

In addition, Company Shop said it is opening its membership options to those on means-tested benefits.
