A DRUG driver who crashed his car as he attempted to evade the police has been jailed for ten months.

Steven Seaman reached speeds of up to 50mph as he sped along roads in the Grangetown and Normanby areas of Middlesbrough in November 2019.

The 35-year-old was under the influence of cannabis and cocaine when police tried to pull him over after spotting one of his headlights wasn't working.

Nigel Soppitt, prosecuting, said after Seaman crashed his car he ran away and headed to his home where he was later arrested.

Seaman, of Lime Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drug driving, having no insurance and driving without a licence.

Jon Harley, mitigating, said his client taking 'stringent steps' to address his drug problem.

Judge James Brown said: "This was a very dangerous piece of dangerous driving aggravated by the amount of drugs in your system."
